- Nfinity, the first women’s
performance team sport footwear company, released an innovative stop-motion
commercial featuring WNBA athlete Nikki Blue. The commercial is composed of more
than 550 still frames, giving the spot an illusion of being shot on film.
“At Nfinity, we are constantly looking for
opportunities to put an innovative spin on conventional ideas, so the chance to
shoot a commercial using still photography was intriguing to us,” said Nfinity CEO
Tate Chalk. “It was most important for us to capture Nikki’s dedication and
athleticism. She is such an amazing athlete, coach and woman, and we are honored
to have Nikki on the Nfinity team.”
“It was necessary to get the most
out of a single production due to Nikki’s busy schedule,” said photographer Andrew
Kornylak. “We shot the commercial not with video, but with a still camera –
a Nikon D3 DSLR. This camera was
able to capture high-resolution images at up to 11 frames per second for up to
12 seconds at a time. Using this ‘still-motion’ technique, we were able to use
lens and lighting effects not possible in video for a unique look, and also
produced high-resolution stills for print along with the motion piece in the
same shoot. The unusual look worked great with the dreamlike concept of having
Nikki play through ‘herself’ as she tells her
story.”

The Nfinity Basketball Shoe,
which Nikki wears in the commercial, will hit the market in August 2009. The
shoe will be available in women’s sizes 6-13, 14, 15, 16 and can be ordered for
$119.99 at Girls
Got Game and Athena’s
Attic.
